25manna 2021 is cancelled

For the second year in a row, the 25manna relay is forced to cancel the event. Not being able to secure the necessary permits from the authorities due to the pandemic is the reason behind the decision.

The organising clubs Täby OK, Attunda OK and Sundbybergs IK have together with the 25manna association spent the past year extensively preparing to execute an as normal as possible 25manna 2021 relay. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has yet again stopped Sweden’s biggest relay competition, which normally brings in 10,000 competitors.

“We are forced to realize that we will not be able to secure the necessary permits from the proper authorities. The necessary easing of restrictions and general advice that are required for organising the 25manna 2021 are not expected to come in place in the near future,” said Claes Andersson, president of the 25manna relay association.

However, Täby OK plans to host a middle distance event with all age classes, on either 9th or 10th October. The Swedish Orienteering Federation (SOFT), Stockholm’s Orienteering Federation (StOF) and Täby OK are currently in discussion whether or not the event will be part of Swedish League and/or be a World Ranking Event competition.

More information about the weekend of 9th and 10th October will be communicated shortly by the SOFT and StOF information sites and be published on Eventor.

The 25manna relay association welcomes all orienteers to the 25manna relay weekend in 2022 at Visättra with OK Södertörn and Snättringe SK as hosts. Visättra was supposed to host the 25manna relay 2020 before it too was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Refund payments of any entry fees will be done according to previous announcements.
